few first year illustrations

degree project

It was almost 5-6 month project for me as I research in this topic and then continued to work on this topic for my degree project.
The link for my research is: http://richavermaresearch2010.blogspot.com/2010/11/shatkona.html

My research was on ancient hindu symbols used in architecture till today.

This project deals with symbols found in Architecture, used by ancient Hindus and later used by Mughals, better known as the Ashtmangalas. Ashtmangalas are the set of eight auspicious symbols used in Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism. We see them all around us all our lives, each of them say a lot. There is a story related to every symbol, it has travelled through time and civilizations, used in different ways by different people, there is a lot that study of these symbols can unfold. There is low awareness to the level of, confusion and misunderstanding the symbol. This project aims to create awareness and evoke interest. The final product is for foreign tourist. A map of monuments in golden triangle of India (Delhi-Agra-Jaipur) which is popular and almost everyone who come to India visit these places. Through these monuments I will take the tourist closer to the walls of monuments and introduce them to the symbols, using the map
